Dale Lesinski-DiVal Safety

Creating a positive safety culture is both an Art and a Science! The Science addresses all of the regulations, compliance and engineering, and most companies have this covered. The Art side, or what we refer to as "the thin air" or human side of the equation, can be the greatest challenge for companies conquer.

Safe 4 the Right Reasons breaks down our basic human nature and delivers a personal motivation to each employee to value their safety. This message also addresses how we must watch out for each other and be our brother's keeper. The best part of this message is that it is personal for every employee, and can be incorporated into all of your safety messages and trainings. It serves as the foundation of your safety culture for years to come.

       James Olson

Longtime Central Intelligence Agency operative and former CIA chief of counterintelligence James “Jim” Olson wil deliver a talk on his career experiences and challenges as a former CIA chief of counterintelligence. He and his wife Meredith met at the CIA and raised three children during a dangerous 25-year career as spies. They retired from the agency, but their work continues as mentors on life, love and the meaning of American patriotism

After 31 years of chasing Soviet KGB secrets and jumping out of moving cars, James Olson made the move into academia. That led him to Texas A&M's Bush School of Government and Public Service

Earlier this year, Olson released a book, To Catch a Spy: The Art of Counterintelligence, which he said is rooted in his three decades in the arena of counterintelligence. It offers “a wake-up call,” in Olson’s words, for the American public about why counterintelligence matters, and why America must protect its trade and national security secrets.

Olson said 50 countries are known to be spying against the U.S. currently. “The worst culprit, by far, is China — followed by Russia, Cuba and Iran,” he said.

Tony Crow-INJAM

In the Blink of an Eye

Tony Crow worked for TXU for 20 plus years. During this time he attended numerous safety meetings. He heard and knew the list of safety rules. They were so ingrained that he instinctively followed them. They became second nature to him.

But on February 15, 2003, while enjoying his favorite hobby, quail hunting, Tony was accidentally shot. He was totally blinded for life.

Tony's life drastically changed that day, as well as the lives of his family and friends. When we think of people who have been in accidents, we don’t consider how it will affect those closest to them. Everything about Tony and his family’s lifestyle has had to change

Tony’s message about Safety and Leadership is compelling and passionate. He & his loving wife, Cheryl, travel the country as well as Canada, in hopes that Tony's story does not become someone else's story.

SAFETY

CONSULTANTS

I was working in the Safety & Risk Control department for the Aramark Corporation. Aramark is a food and facility services giant. Based in Philadelphia, Aramark has operations worldwide and over 200,000 employees. My job was to work with senior leaders to develop a strategy and tactics to reduce the risk of employee injury.

I received a call one late summer morning that an employee was struck and killed by a pickup truck while at work. The incident occurred during the pre-dawn hours in an area with limited lighting and no marked vehicle or pedestrian paths. A twenty-two year old mother would not see her two year old daughter grow up. My immediate thought after completing the investigation was “how do I get this information out to over 200,000 employees at thousands of locations worldwide?” “How do I make safety personal to so many employees across the globe??

Today I work as a safety consultant sharing my knowledge and experience with my clients and the safety profession in general. My mission is to make safety personal for everyone from executive leaders to front line workers and safety professionals. I recognize as most safety professionals do that regulatory compliance only gets us so far. By making safety personal and by connecting safety to what is important to the worker we can begin to exceed minimum standards. By making safety personal, we create an environment where workers are following procedures because they want to, not because they have to.
